Directions (from East)

From A1 Scotch Corner take the A66 west towards Penrith. 16 miles from Scotch Corner turn left to Bowes. Go straight across the mini roundabout and along Bowes main street. Pass the Ancient Unicorn on your right and the church and castle on your left.

Just before the road goes back over the A66, turn left. There is a bus turning circle on your right. Go past this and through the metal gate with a “No vehicles” sign on it. You will see a sign for Swinholme. Pass between West End on your left and an old store on your right. At the blue milk churn turn left down the hill on a tarmac track until you come to a blue gate. Swinholme Farm and Cottage are just through the blue gate. Pass behind the farm until you come to a wide metal gate on your left. Go through this gate and you have arrived. The track is suitable for all cars.

From the A66 take the A67 junction signposted to Bowes and Barnard Castle. Follow the signs to Bowes. At the mini roundabout turn right into Bowes main street. Pass the Ancient Unicorn on your right and the church and castle on your left.
